How Does an NFC Google Review Card Work?

NFC is the same short-range technology used for contactless payments. Your card stores one link: your review page. Customers who can’t tap simply scan the printed QR code instead.

What is NFC?

Near-field communication is a short-range wireless standard, the same family of technology used for contactless card payments. An NFC tag has no battery; the phone powers it for a moment when it’s held a few centimetres away, then reads the link stored on it.

Which phones can tap?

Most iPhones from the XS onwards read NFC tags automatically when unlocked. Many Android phones support NFC too, though it may need switching on in settings and some models don’t have it. Results can vary with phone cases and how the phone is held.

The QR code backup

Every card also carries a printed QR code that opens the same review link. Customers whose phones don’t support NFC simply point their camera at it.

How we set up your card

We never program a card from a business name alone. We confirm your exact Google review link with you, write it to the NFC chip, print the matching QR code, and test both before dispatch.

The card makes it easier to reach your review page. It doesn’t write, post or rate anything. Each customer chooses whether to leave a review, the rating they give and what they say.
